A - Z Survey

I'm not quite sure, where this sort-of Tag came from to be quite honest, but I have seen it making the rounds for quite a long time now, both in the Blogosphere as well as Booktube, and I decided I'd like to do it as well now. Why not? Sooo, here goes. :)

Author You've Read The Most Books From

Considering that the first two are manga authors, I guess I can say "Julie Kagawa" here. And proud of it.

Best Sequel Ever

I would have to say Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi here, because I was most impressed by that. It wasn't the best in terms of "it was so good!" but the best in terms of surprising me the most. I really did not like Shatter Me, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed its sequel immensely.

Currently Reading

Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken :)

Drink Of Choice While Reading

Water. I usually never drink anything other than water...

E-Reader Or Physical Book

I definitely prefer physical copies, and even though I always thought I'd never be okay with e-readers, now that I have one, I don't think they are that bad anymore. Sometimes I even enjoy reading on my kindle, especially when I'm not sure if I'm really going to like a book.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Date

Just ONE? No, sorry, I have to list a few at least: There's Ash from Julie Kagawa's Iron King, Simon Lewis from Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments, Four from Divergent by Veronica Roth, and Adrian Ivashkov from Vampire Academy and Bloodlines by Richelle Mead. Can we re-introduce polygamy?

Glad You Gave This Book a Chance

Definitely Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. I was sure I wouldn't like that one, but I absolutely loved it.

Hidden Gem Book

Uhmmm. I think I'm going to go with The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern for this one, because I don't think that many people have read it and I thought it was really great.

Important Moment in Your Reading Life

Want to know something really funny? Everyone hates the Percy Jackson movies. Because they're so terrible, and don't follow the books closely, blah blah blah. Well, tell you what: The first Percy Jackson movie actually got me into reading. Yes, the movie. I loved the movie so much that I decided to delve into the books as well, and after reading those fabulous books, I moved on to others (such as The Mortal Instruments), and that's also when I started reading English books, because at that time, only the first three books in the Percy Jackson series had been released in German. So I bought the last two in English to read them. I mean, I've always been an avid reader before this, but never as hardcore as I have been ever since then.

Just Finished

"Ein perfekter Freund" by Martin Suter. It's kind of a thrilleresque contemporary, and was required reading material for my German class over the Fall holidays. And I have to admit, it wasn't that bad. Even though required reading material and me have always been at odds, this was nice enough.

Kinds of Books You Won't Read

I try to maintain an open mind about all kinds of genres, and I mainly have read a lot of genres if not almost every "common" one, but one genre I probably won't ever read just for kicks is non-fiction. I don't know, I just don't see the joy in reading someone's autobiography or something.

Longest Book You've Read

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin :)

Major Book Hangover Because of

Allegiant by Veronica Roth ... Why did you have to do this, Veronica?

Number of Bookcases You Own

Well, I have three small shelves, and then I have two larger shelves. Theoretically that makes five, but I like to just say I have three in all.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier is probably holding my re-read record for now. I think I've re-read those books ... about eight times? But The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa is a very close second.

Preferred Place To Read

My bed. I can read anywhere I'd like to, but I usually always end up on my bed.

Quote That Inspires You

"Fear doesn't shut you down, it wakes you up." — Divergent, Veronica Roth
“We accept gods that don't speak to us. We accept gods that would place us in a world filled with injustices and do nothing as we struggle. It's easier than accepting that there's nothing out there at all, and that, in our darkest moments, we are truly alone.” — Perfect Ruin, Lauren DeStefano

Reading Regret

This is, again, a very difficult question to find only one book for. I'll go with ... well, anything by Kiersten White, really. Mind Games, as well as the whole Paranormalcy trilogy.

Series You Started And Need to Finish

Uhh, there's not really any series that I have started and really want to finish where all the books are out yet. Or, well, more than the ones I have already read. Maybe The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson? I have the third and final book, The Bitter Kingdom, on my shelf here but it's still unread. So I guess I'll go with that (even though I'm not that psyched to get on with it).

Three of Your Alltime Favorite Books

The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa, Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo and Bloodlines by Richelle Mead.

Unapologetic Fangirl For

The Mortal Instruments and, well, any Cassandra Clare/Shadowhunter books. They all have something nostalgic about them, because, like I mentioned earlier, they were one of the book series that really got me into reading as much as I am nowadays, and I really hyped them like crazy back in the day. So even though quality-wise, they aren't nearly as good as I once thought they were (I know that now), I'll always cherish them and I don't mind however many Shadowhunter books she wants to publish. I know many are saying that it's enough now and she should just stop beating a dead horse, but I'm actually looking forward to all of her new series, no matter if they're Shadowhunter-related or not.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All Others

Talon by Julie Kagawa, Ruin & Rising by Leigh Bardugo and Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi are my most urgent ones right now. Although I am very excited for World After by Susan Ee and The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead as well, it's just that I don't have to wait for these that long anymore. They come out next month.

Worst Bookish Habit

Uhm, I think I'll have to choose drinking while reading here. Whenever I'm reading, I usually have a bottle lying somewhere nearby and I'll just hold the page and take a drink. However, when I'm twisting the lid off, the carbon dioxide in my water bubbles up and it STAINS MY DARN PAGES. It happens so often yet I never seem to get it to just close the damn book before taking a sip...

X Marks the Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book

Wither by Lauren DeStefano.

Your Latest Book Purchase

That was more than just one, but I'll see if I can get it all together: Vicious by Victoria Schwab, The Program by Suzanne Young, Enthralled: Paranormal Diversions by a variety of authors, Frozen by Melissa de la Cruz and Michael Johnston, Tithe by Holly Black, Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers, The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor (I replaced my paperback with a hardcover) and Something Strange & Deadly by Susan Dennard.

ZZZ-Snatcher Book (last one that kept you up way too late)

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black. Although somehow I just got the recollection of staying up the whole night, and I mean it, the whole night, till 9am, when I was reading Anna and the French Kiss. Although I had summer vacation then, so it doesn't really count.

Aaand, that's it. Now I'm asking myself, "Why didn't I do this sooner?", because this was actually really fun. A good way to spend time procrastinating correcting all three of my AP tests... Gah, why did I have to think of that now?! I'll do it later. Later.

Love <3
